The Big One Billion

I still remember that afternoon in early 2019 when a friend asked, almost off-hand, "Can you help me get my song onto Spotify and Apple Music?" I'd never thought about digital music distribution before, but I saw the spark in his eyes and decided we could build something simple, something that just worked. What began as a small favour between friends grew into Fresible Music and today, I can hardly believe we've hit one billion streams.

Back then, it was just us and a dream. We sketched out the first interface on Opeyemi's laptop, sent our first release, and waited. With every new upload, our confidence grew. Before long, our little project had welcomed its hundredth artist. Then its thousandth. Every milestone felt impossible until we reached it. Now, looking at one billion plays across over 100 countries, I'm both amazed and deeply grateful.

None of this would have happened without an incredible team. Tayo, Victor, Opeyemi and Hope. They are the first believers. Bisi and Mudijat also worked briefly on it before moving on. Daniel and Rilwan built several tools including the version 2 of the product. Adenike, Rahanat and later on Sade have all helped with administrative work and shaping the brand so our message always felt clear. The list is endless - every single person who ever joined this journey, thank you.

When I tell people we've reached a billion streams, they often ask how. And I say: with heart, persistence and a refusal to give up on small beginnings. It wasn't magic, it was a lot of code, a lot of feedback from artists, and a lot of belief that independent voices deserve their moment. From helping one friend with a song to empowering over 12,000 artists, this journey has been full of surprises. I'm proud of every step we've taken together.
