Disabling My LinkedIn Account

I just disabled my LinkedIn account, and honestly, it feels like something that has been a long time coming.

I would not say I greatly dislike LinkedIn, but over the past few years, I have found no real use for it. For me, going on LinkedIn has never really felt worthwhile. I have never kept the LinkedIn app on my phone for long. At one point, I downloaded it, but I later deleted it. I barely check LinkedIn, and when I do, it is usually only once a month or so.

I have never really found it useful. I have made a couple of connections there, and some people have been able to reach out to me through LinkedIn, but that still does not seriously justify me having an account.

So today, I made the conscious decision to disable it, and I decided to write a short blog post about it.

There is no dramatic or extraordinary reason behind this decision. I also do not want this to come across as destructive, or like one of those long motivational posts trying to convince people that LinkedIn is trash. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the social media platforms and websites they choose to use to share their content.

But as far as I am concerned, LinkedIn is not for me.

The account is only disabled, so perhaps at some point in the future I may log back in, check what is going on, and disable it again. But as of today, my LinkedIn account has been disabled.

If you are reading this, it probably means you searched for me or somehow came across this blog post. You can still easily reach out to me by email. You can also send me a DM on Twitter if needed, but I would prefer to be contacted by email.
